History

Born in 1878, Louis Blake Duff was a newspaperman, editor and publisher. He was one of Welland's most revered and widely known citizens. He gained fame as an author, historian, humorist and after-dinner speaker, and undoubtedly became the most illustrious name in Welland's publishing history. In recognition of his achievements, Duff was granted an honorary degree of doctor of laws by the University of Western Ontario in 1952. Duff died in August 1959 at the age of 81
