Administrative history

Centerfold started in August 1976, published by The Parachute Center for Cultural Affairs in Calgary, Alberta. One year later in 1977, The Parachute Center became Arton's, marking an increase in video and film programing and distribution as well as continued promotion of performance and music programing, residencies and exhibitions taking place at the facility and in the surrounding area. The founding editors of the magazine were Clive Robertson and Marcella Bienvenue with the editorial board expanding to ten members in 1980 after the magazine moved to Toronto with Robertson and renamed FUSE in 1979.

Custodial history

Scope and content

The fonds consists of administrative and financial records of the organization relating to issues of funding, grants, audits, financial statements, budgeting, distribution, subscription services, advertising and a small number of production files for various issues. The minutes from the meetings of both the Board of Directors and the Editorial Board are present, though the Editorial Board minutes span only one decade (1990's). The fonds includes a complete run of the magazine.

Immediate source of acquisition

The FUSE archives came to be deposited at Queen's University Archives through the guidance and assitance of Clive Robertson. Deposited by Arton's Publishing in July 2014.

Arrangement has been imposed by the archivist in keeping with a minimally applied filing scheme that seemed to be in place from time to time in the organization.
