Department of Sociology - John Meisel Lecture. The 50's and 60's

Main Speaker(s): Several unnamed student group leaders. Location: McArthur Hall. Video is of a student workshop which occurred after the 2nd MacClement lecture. Several groups of students each present ideas on how to help make the world a better, more peaceful place. Afterwards Dr McArthur says some concluding remarks.

Main Speaker(s): Lorna Wilson. Location: McArthur Hall. Video is of a skit named Mid Term Break with Wilson as the sole actress. Wilson plays seven different roles during the play, which focuses on a teacher having a career crisis.

Main Speaker(s): Fraser Scott, Mindy Cook, Shelly Black, Gordon Heasley, Dan Fewings Bert Horwood. Location: McArthur Hall. Video is of a ceremony held to welcome Dr Suzuki to Queen's. Begins with a barbershop sextet singing several songs. Afterwards Scott introduces Dr Suzuki. Then Cook, Black, and Heasley each read an excerpt from one of his books. Next, Fewings reads poetry and and acts out two skits while dressed as a clown. Two men then sing while playing the guitar and bass. Afterwards Horwood talks about the ceremony, and calls on various people to read different things, including several excerpts of poetry and a letter from a facult member near Everest. To conclude the ceremony the guitarist and bassist from earlier play again, with the addition of Black.

Part 1. Main Speaker(s): Howard Smith, Mack Freeman, Langdon Winner. Location: McArthur Hall. Video begins with Smith introducing Freeman, who talks about the MacClement lecture series and introduces Winner. Winner then lectures the audience about how they are going to be integrated into education in the future, and the difficulties they face in becoming part of the classroom environment. Hi specch ends at the end of the video, after which a man thanks him for coming.

Part 1. Main Speaker(s): Dr Gar White, Dr James Raffad, Bert Horwood. Location: McArthur Hall. Video begins with Dr White welcoming the audience, talking about the MacClement lectures, and introducing Dr Raffad. Dr Raffad then introduces Horwood, after which a slideshow containing birds, people canoeing, and other outdoor images plays to a background of flute music. Horwood then lectures the audience on the importance of adopting an integrated curriculum designed to encompass the entire human condition, instead of the current system which focuses only on the intellectual portion of life.
