Album of Notables

The album contains images taken in Chesterfield’s press photography days. Includes photos such as the collapsing of the Quebec bridge, and scenes of ‘typical’ Canadian life.

Canada at War

The album contains images depicting various military units in training, on the move, and getting ready to depart for the war at Valcartier. It also shows various government officials giving speeches and making announcements. Photographs are accompanied by newspaper clippings.

Isle d'Orléans

File contains a typescript of "Isle d'Orléans," including a description of the images in sequence X in series 4.

Loose photos from album

File contains four loose pages from a destroyed album. Images were taken early in Chesterfield’s career, and depict his friends and work colleagues at Rigolet.

File contains newspaper clippings of A.A. Chesterfield articles "New Year’s in the Far North," "The Eskimo’s Daily Bread," and "If You Miss the Caribou, You Starve."

Northern Life

The album contains images of Cree and Inuit communities around Hudson Bay and James Bay, including portraits and scenes of traditional ways of life. Some images are shown with canoes, or cooking, or in front of tepees and igloos. Several of the portraits depict a single sitter in front of a white background.
