Inuit Woman with Two Children

Photograph depicts an inuit woman and her two children standing outside of an outpost building in the snow. The women is central, dressed in fur lined animal skin, with decorative frindge on the front. Her pants and boots are a combination of furs and skins. Her hood is thrown back to reveal a child dressed in a fur snowsuit on her back. She faces the left lookng out of the frame, while the child who stands at her side and the child on her back look toward the viewer.

Landscape overlooking Hudson Bay

Photograph shows a landscape, overlooking the Hudson's Bay. Heavy amounts of fir trees to the left, a wide gap in the middle to reveal the Bay and the shore across from the photographer, and light fir trees and shrubbery to the right. Very little vegetation in the foreground, some grass and shrubs.

Large Inuit Group

Photograph shows a group of twenty-seven Inuit posed in three to four rows. There is every age and gender shown. Emulsion has been used to block out everything other then the people who are seated in the snow. All are dressed in their traditional fur lined animal skins. Some women have children on their backs. Some people wear mittens, some have their hoods up, and some do not. All of the sitters are looking directly at the viewer in confrontational sobriety.

Long way house beside tepee

Photograph shows a long way house beside a Tepee. The foreground is a vast expanse of grass and various bits of wood. The house on the left has its door open, though nothing inside if visible, it has three visible windows. The Tepee has its door open, but facing away from the viewer. In the background there are many tall fir trees to contrast with the vast expanse of open sky.

File contains four loose pages from a destroyed album. Images were taken early in Chesterfield’s career, and depict his friends and work colleagues at Rigolet.

Man and Canoe at River Side

Photograph depicts a canoe in the foreground (on the grassy shore), rapids in the middle and backgrounds. A line of fur trees provides a back drop, and serves to break up the horizon line. A man stands near the rapids, in the middle ground, one knee bent, one hand on his hip, this other arm dangling beside his raised knee. He seems to be dressed in pants, a white shirt, and a vest. He is wearing a cap. He is looking directly out at the viewer.

Man in fur hat and fur coat

Photograph is portrait style; background is eliminated, the man is shown centered, looking out at the viewer. The only part of him visible beneath the mass amounts of animal furs he wears is his face, which is wrinkled. He neither smiles nor frowns; he has a mustache.
