Sailing Ship at Anchor

Photograph depicts a very large sailing ship, with three masts and one funnel. This ship is centrally located. It is thought to be the HBC ship the "Discovery".

Sailing a Canoe

Photograph shows a man in a canoe with two white sails gliding through a calm section of river. There is a somewaht rocky hill side on the shore behind him, and a few bolders and shrubs in the left hand side of the foreground. The man's back is to the viewer, he is wearing a cap.

Post House

Photograph shows three Cree men sitting in the grass outside an outpost building, with a fourth standing beside its open doorway. All men are dressed in western style work clothing, and are wearing hats. The three men in the foreground are engaged in conversation, while the bearded fourth stands looking toward the viewer. The building itself seems in disrepair, it has a one window on either side of the open door way, and a third behind the trio who sit with their backs to the building. There are various bits of equipment scattered around, and a section of fence to the left.

Out Post Building

Photograph depicts two men, sitting in an open door way in a wooden gate, surrounding an out post building. The opening is centrally located, with an expance of gate on either side. The man on the left wears a hat, the man on the right does not. Through the open door, the viewer may see part of an out post building.

Northern Life

The album contains images of Cree and Inuit communities around Hudson Bay and James Bay, including portraits and scenes of traditional ways of life. Some images are shown with canoes, or cooking, or in front of tepees and igloos. Several of the portraits depict a single sitter in front of a white background.

Newspaper clippings

File contains newspaper clippings of A.A. Chesterfield articles "New Year’s in the Far North," "The Eskimo’s Daily Bread," and "If You Miss the Caribou, You Starve."

Moose

Photograph depicts a moose at close range, laying down in the foliage of a forest. There is snow on the ground, and a few fallen trees in the back ground.
