Edinburgh. &London) of Louis Charles Antoine Desaix, born 17 August 1768, died 14 June 1800, a French general and military leader under the First Republic who died during the Battle of Marengo that rose Napoleon Bonaparte to the position of First Consul in Paris and removed Austrian forces from Italy.

CHEVALIER DESSEASAU.

Item is an engraving published by J. Robins & Co. Albion Press (London) of Chevalier Desseassau, a Prussian soldier who fled the French army to England after a duel in which he wounded a fellow officer. He attracted attention through his dress and manner and was acquainted with all of the successful booksellers of his time, as well as many writers of drama and poetry. He recited his own compositions to groups of friends. He died in 1775 at around 70 years old.
