The fonds consists primarily of financial and administrative documents pertaining to the running of the organization and inlcudes Board minutes, audited yearly accounts, position descriptions, grant applications and fundraising materials. There is a large portion of material surrounding the relocation to the Princess Court space downtown that includes architects tenders, plans, proposals and financial cost estimates. There is a smaller amount of material pertaining to the film programming that ran in the theatre, including programmes and a card catalogue of the films screened and the attendance at each screening.

Contractor Responses

This file consists of correspondence between four different contractors and the National Film Theatre in April and August of 1987. The contractors are Sun Building Corp., Dacon Corp., K.B. Home Insulation Ltd., and Building Service by Smith. Their proposals included prices for skilled workers and material costs, as well as items to be included or excluded from the overall cost.

This file consists of various letters regarding the National Film Theatre of Kingston's establishment, mostly regarding their CIP (Cultural Initiatives Program) application and finances. Also included is a news release from the government of Canada entitled "Ontario's Cultural Sector to Get Boost from New $50 Million Federal-Provincial Agreement", and a booklet entitled "A Special Program of Cultural Initiatives".

This file consists of a booklet of Stationery Stores Inventory Listing for 1990, and board meeting minutes. Meetings in 1986 include: October 27, August 18, June 11, June 9, May 26, April 28, March 17, and February 24. Meetings in 1985 include: December 5, October 10, August 21, June 10, May 28, May 6, April 30, April 9, March 26, and January 31. Meetings in 1984 include: November 8, June 21, and March 27.

Relocation Kit Originals and Extras

This file consists of brochures, packages, and letters for the relocation of the Princess Court Cinema from the National Film Theatre. The first package is the terms of reference from the National Film Theatre, describing the history of the group and its role in the community. The next booklet is a "Proposal for an Approach to the Relocation Project" from Ferguson Ferguson Architects. The next package includes more technical documents, such as the project information, financial information, and press clippings. The final booklet is entitled "National Film Theatre: On the Move".

Terms of Reference

This file consists of a study intended to conclude how best to relocate the Princess Court Cinema. It includes a list of potential sites, what can be gained by relocation, the objectives of the National Film Theatre, lists of equipment and furnishings, and several pages on the Kingston Artists Association, Incorporated and their objectives. At the end is a floor plan for the proposed new theatre at the former Oddfellow's Temple.

This file consists of files, articles, and brochures of independent and short films shown at the National Film Theatre. Articles come from the Kingston Whig-Standard. Also included are interviews with the filmmakers, both the published versions and transcripts. Many of the copies are the originals, cut and pasted together for the photocopier.
