Beamish-Munro Hall - Grand Opening Ceremony

Main Speaker(s): Tom Harris, Dr William Leggett, Dr James McCowen. Location: Beamish-Munro Hall. Opens with shots panning through Beamish-Munro. Harris introduces Dr Leggett, who talks about the building of Beamish-Munro. Harris then returns to the podium and speaks about how the hall will affect future Applied Science students. He announces there will be an award named after Dr McCowen, who takes the podium and talks about the building. Harris then calls up the Mayor of Kingston and two past students who each give their thanks to the Beamish and Munro families. Robert Beamish and Don Munro are then each called up to give brief speeches.

Bioscience Sod Turning

Main Speaker(s): Thomas Williams, Dr William Leggett. Location: The grass outside the construction of the Bioscience Complex, a stage is set up in front of an audience. Tom Williams takes the stage ans speaks about how the construction for Bioscience will begin soon. He introduces Dr Leggett, who speaks further about the symbolic sod turning and the building itself. Short speeches are given by Gary Wilson and Gary Bennett, and Richard Stackhouse cuts a large cake in the shape of the buiding. The last 15 minutes are raw footage of the gathering after the speeches.

Biosciences Complex & Technology Centre Announcement

Main Speaker(s): David Smith, Helen Cooper, Frances Lankin, Dave Cooke. Location: Outside, near the future location of the Bioscience Complex. Begins with Smith welcoming the audience, before introducing Cooper. Cooper then goes into further detail of the important contributers to the Bioscience Complex before introducing Lankin, who speaks a little on the Kingston economy and the provincial government's recent decisions involving local jobs. Cooke speaks further on the jobsOntario program. Afterwards Lankin talks about the government's relationship with the university. Smith then thanks the government representatives for their contribution to the university.

Botterell Hall Opening/Dedication

Main Speaker(s): Roland Michener, Ronald Watts, William Davis, A. Marshall Laverty, Harry Botterell. Location: Botterell Hall. Begins with Michener thanking the people involved with the building of the hall and welcoming the speakers and audience. Watts takes the podium and talks about the planning of the building. Afterwards Davis talks on behalf of the government of Ontario. Laverty then says a prayer. Botterell thanks the building committee for their hard work.

Brian Way: McArthur Auditorium

Main Speaker(s): Brian Way. Location: Duncan McArthur Hall. Video is of a lecture by Way on the public school teaching method of treating every child the same, and why this is ineffective and detrimental. He also discusses the importance of the arts as a way of allowing people to express themselves and display their inner feelings.

Broken Beauty: The Ballad of Block D

Main Speaker(s): David Helwig. Kingston Waterfront Plot D. Video takes place after the last piece of Kingston's waterfront was purchased for commercial development. Video was filmed on the first day of development, highlighting the natural beauty of the area soon to be destroyed with narration by Helwig.

Carol Burra & Family

Main Speaker(s): Carol Burra, Norman Gibson, Sandy Gibson, Laurie Gibson, Norman Gibson Jr, Susan Gibson, Belle Wallace.Location: Room within Kingston hospital. Video contains an interview with Norman and his children Sandy, Laurie, and Norman Jr by Burra. Interview focuses on the hospitalization of Norman's wife Susan, and how the Gibson family is coping with this. Afterwards Susan and her mother Belle are brought into the interview to discuss how Susan's absence is affecting her, her mother, and her family. At the end of the video the family discusses seeing Burra again for a later appointment.
