The fonds consists of correspondence, memoranda and files related to his career with the Canadian Army. The material for the war years is voluminous, covering administration, intelligence summaries, operations, and war diaries. The material relating to the Imperial Defence College is fairly complete and the material on the Defence of Canada, intended for a book on the topic, is also of interest.

Of particular interest is the prototype on cheese cloth (bunting), possibly used by Joan O'Malley to sew the first Canadian maple-leaf flag, which was presented to the Canadian Parliament by Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson. Also includes the "Pearson Pennant."
