The fonds consists of correspondence (some copies), wills, legal documents, subject files, receipts and an issue of Christian Advocate and Journal, 1835 July 3. The documents provide much detailed information about the family including various financial interests.
This collection contains material documenting various land transactions concerning Lot 4 in the 1st Concession in the Township of South Fredricksburgh, County of Lennox and Addington. This location was a family farm which was bought and sold a number of times over the hundred and fifty years represented in the records. The transactions reflect the dealings of the following families: McTagert; Thompson; Jenny; Sillmand; Close; Leech; Wright; and Morton.
The fonds consists predominantly of land agreement, sale, assignment and lease documents for lots and parcels within Frontenac County and the City of Kingston from 1801to 1864. There is also a limited amount of correspondence with John Macaulay and Thomas Kirkpatrick regarding various estates, business papers, legal documents pertaining to a number of estates, shares for a variety of companies, in particluar trust and insurance companies, a letterbook (1839-1846) and two small account books (1836-1846).
