Correspondence, photographs, and notes concerning the 50th, 52nd, 53rd Batteries O.F.A., O.E.F., their activities during World War I and the Association formed after the War. Comments on the opening of the Queen's University overseas record, 1914-1917, manuscript.
Fonds consists of dance programmes; dinner menus; class notebooks; examination papers; list of landladies; student directories; and other student-related material.
The fonds consists of manuscripts and research material used in a talk that Elizabeth Sinclair gave on the history of the village of Collins Bay to the Kingston Historical Society. There are two notebooks, one of which is probably a rough draft and the other the text for her talk to the Historical Society. There is also a typewritten manuscript that probably went to the editor of "Historic Kingston". Finally, there are a number of notes and papers used by Mrs. Sinclair when preparing her paper. These include notes on land ownership in the area, notes on the book, The Baptists in Upper Canada, a one page history of the village by M.H. Grass, dated 1916 and a history of the Jubilee Woman's Institute.
The Collection consists of a microfilm copy of the 'Register of Recruits of the 253rd Battalion Queen's University Highlanders Canadian Expeditionary Force' (1916-1917), with an introduction by Craig Mantle; an 'Addendum to the 'Register of Recruits', introduced and compiled by Craig Mantle; and a copy of the 'Nominal Roll of Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Men'.
Queen's University. 253rd Battalion Queen's University Highlanders
This discrete item is a hand-made recruitment poster, likely used during the campaign to enlist men for the second contingent of the 5th Field Company in 1916. There are photographs sewn onto a piece of khaki canvas depicting the winter quarters of the 5th Field Company, the Barriefield camp, groups of engineers, and a watertower.
The fonds consists of records created between 1914 and 1972 and are primarily concerned with Dr. Whitton's relationship with Queen's University, both as a student and an alumnae. The fonds is comprised of correspondence (primarily relating to Queen's University), lecture notes, articles, publications relating to Queen's University, draft copy of report on the administration of welfare services in Ontario (prepared for the Ontario Government in 1943) and typescript of Elizabeth Tudor, Queen of England, 1533-1603.
Items are photograph copies of a scroll and address on the occasion of the laying of the cornerstone for the Parliament buildings in Ottawa by the Prince of Wales. Also includes a letter from the Deputy Minister of Public Works to Adam Shortt.
