Item is an electro-steel engraved top-half portrait of William Smith; Chief Jusitice of Canada, 1786, Chief Justice of New York, (b.1728-d.1793).Engraved by H.B. Hill & sone 13 Barley St .NY. Below the portrait is the shubjects signature in engraving as well as "Chief Justice of New York and of Canada." There are two copies, one has the engravers name on it and the other has a tear near the Top right corner, is more discolored, showing signs of previous matting as wel las has in pencil near the bottom righ corner "1728-93."
