Fonds consists of the diaries (2 volumes) of William Smith, containing a detailed narrative of his activities in England and his first seven months in Quebec dated January 1784 to May 1787. The entries cover events, institutions, political affairs and descriptions of persons encountered by W. Smith. The first volume includes one of the only accounts of Canadian affairs from a London vantage point given that the papers of Sir Guy Carleton were destroyed. The second volume deals predominantly with Quebec.
The fonds consists of correspondence, financial records, minutes, subject files and scrapbooks. The moving image material contains the following performances at Fort Henry ; Frontenac, Marie and Pierre, Red George MacDonald, 1837 Rebellion, Nils von Schoultz, Bill Johnson, Coal Boats, the River Never Dies, Pirate; and the following at the Water Front: The River, Bill Johnson and Banis de ses Foyers. The fonds consists of land records, receipts, ledgers, records of military service, paper silhouettes, an autograph book and correspondence. Taken together these record activities of the various branches of the family since its arrival in Canada. It must be noted here that these papers are not by any means a complete record of these activities but they do provide an interesting insight into the family at various times over the years.
The fonds consists of a scrapbook of Tweedsmuir history, with excerpts related to Bath, Millhaven, Hawley, Fairfield Family, Dr. H.C. Burleigh, churches and historic buildings. Also includes a voter's list for municipal and provincial elections, 1880.
Fonds reflects the architectural practice of William Coverdale and his son William Miles Coverdale and is comprised of correspondence, financial records, design submissions and specifications, estimates, and reports relating various projects including the Criminal Lunatic Asylum, better known as Rockwood Asylum at Kingston, Ontario. Also includes photographs of the summer home of William Hugh Coverdale at Lemoine's Point Farm.
Fonds consists of correspondence, to and from, his parents, his wife Elizabeth Tatchell, and numerous friends and colleagues; subject files; diaries; manuscripts; books and articles; addresses and lectures; records relating to his time as an Historical Officer in the Canadian Army during the Second World War, as a professor in the department of History at Queen's University at Kingston, and his Retirement Dinner in 1970 from Queen's; and photographs. There is also a very interesting series of letters relating to Captain John Hamilton Brown, as well as an armband of the Dutch Forces of the Interior.
