Fonds consists of correspondence, financial records, diaries, travel diaries, calendars, sketch books, sketches and drawings, programmes and invitations pertaining to shows and exhibitions, inventories, speeches, awards, miscellaneous and printed material, photographs, slides and sound recordings covering all aspects of his life as a student, teacher, traveller, world-renowned artist and chronicler of the country he loved. There is also a small amount of material created and maintained by Ruth Collier (nee Brown) and some family genealogy files.

Carruthers family fonds

The fonds consists textual and moving image materials. The films are of the Carruthers, Constantine and Beeman families, showing excursions, picnics and the family home. The textual records are comprised of late 20th century geneaological research together with 19th century family documents. The majority of the material pertains to the John Bell Carruthers family and descendants, but includes references to the Constantine, Beeman, Panet and Smith families. The record types include correspondence, wills, codicils, invoices, research notes and photographs.

Phipps-Walker family fonds

Fonds consists of two sous-fonds, that of Margaret Elizabeth Phipps-Walker and that of Edward Phipps-Walker. The Edward Phipps-Walker sous-fonds consists of textual material, including a "Guest Register" for a motel in Gananoque, Ontario; photographs; audio tapes. They detail the man's life from his school days in England to his death at the age of 71 in Kingston. A very important part of these records document his business activities. Most of these activities were closely related to his role as Habour Master for the Port of Kingston. The Margaret Elizabeth sous-fonds consists of textual material and photographs detailing a good deal of her public career in Kingston, with a strong focus on her work with the Association of Women Electors. There is also a good deal of personal material such as letters and diaries.

Includes minutes of the supervising Board of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan and ministerial files collected as Minister of National Defence for Air. Also included is an indexed collection of press clippings containing both news items and editorials relating to the major political issues from 1935 to 1948.

Wilfrid Bennett Lewis fonds

From Lewis's earliest work with Rutherford at the Cavendish Laboratory, through his many years working at the Telecommunications Research Establishment to his work at the Chalk River facility in Ontario, this fonds illustrates the professional life of a world authority on nuclear energy. The fonds consists of correspondence, subject files, publications, photographs, and audio cassettes documenting various interviews with Lewis and various other scientists.

Fonds consists of legal records such as the Royal Charter and those pertaining to provincial and federal legislation affecting the University; land instruments such as deeds, leases, and agreements, relating to the University; agendas and minutes of the Board of Trustees, the University Senate, and the University Council, as well as for the numerous committees and sub-committees of these bodies; records of Task Forces; records of Principal's Advisory Committee on Race Relations (1990); correspondence with architects; staff award citations; wills; convocation speeches; copies of manuscripts submitted by recipients of the Marty Memorial Scholarship for the publication, 'Still Running'; the 'Domesday Book', including the signatures of a number of honorary degree recipients and other notable visitors to the University over time; a Bible presented to the University by an alumnus to be used at the time of Convocation and other special events; the Letters Patent, for the Armorial Bearings for the Rector of Queen's University at Kingston; ; photographs of Leonard Field, Ban Righ Hall, and the Lower Campus of Queen's University at Kingston taken for easement and property rights matters; photographs of various Brockington Visitors, with members the Brockington Visitorship Committee; and a VHS tape, produced as part of a presentation to the University's Board of Trustees entitled, "The Governance of the University" (1994); film, shot by William Nicholl, consisting mainly of Queen's buildings, and including Kingston City Park, Sir John A. Macdonald's statue, and his grave in Cataraqui Cemetery (1936).
