The papers predominantly consist of leases,correspondence, transfers, bargain & sale, insurance, and maintenance records for various properties owned by the Garretts around the city of Kingston. This includes: waterfront lot at the base of Gordon Street at King; the premises on the southwesterly side of Market Square known as the "Queen's Arms"; properties in the Clergy reserve of Block G; Town Lots 23 and 24; Lot 18 in the 2nd Concession in the Township of Kingston; and store property on Princess Street. Of particular note are plans and drawings for a number of these properties by Kilborne and D. Williams, surveyors.

The sous-fonds consists of correspondence, Power of Attorneys, deeds, maps, plans and notices which document Stuart's inheritance of the north west part of the Magdalen Ferguson tract (roughly bound by Division, James, Plum, Barrie and Pine streets) in Kingston which he prepared to sell off by auction. The records reflect Sir Charles' decision to settle partition of his lands from his uncle's (the Archdeacon George O'Kill Stuart) and the management of unsold land, some of which was located in Loughborough township.

The sous-fonds consists of personal papers, correspondence, business papers, legal documents and documents relating to the settlement of the estate, and land records relating to land lots owned by Maitland. Of particular note are the personal papers which contain military commissions for Maitland.The material has been arranged chronologically within the series and the correspondence has been indexed according to date and author/recipient.

The sous-fonds is comprised of documents neccesary to the distribution of an estate in numerous legacies, liquidation and distribution of stock assets, and memorials to John Watkins in St. George's Cathedral and Cataraqui Cemetery. The material consists of correspondence, deeds, financial records and documents relating to wills and partnerships.

This sous-fonds includes records which reflect the life of a young man of means: bills for clothing, books, cigars, hotels, pool and billiards.There are also records that pertain to his financial dealings regarding the properties that he owned in Kingston (including a floor plan for a house on William Street) and the Chancery case in which he was a defendent. There are a number of documents pertaining to properties in and around Kingston, including Lot 24 of the City of Kingston. There is also correspondence with the Hospital Superintendent which documents the personal hospital-patient relationships that occured in that era.

The sous-fonds consists of correspondence and documents relating to the estate of Miss McGill.

The sous-fonds is comprised of the dealings involved with the estates of both Edward Horsey and Theresa Haven. The papers cover the period from 1870-1900 with the majority dated in the 1880's and early 1890's. There are a few documents, such as the original deed to the Craig property, that date much earlier. For the most part the papers are financial records, such as mortgages and leases, investment statements and inventories of current and fixed assets. Also included are several instances of litigation concerning the Haven-Horsey estate. The correspondence is mainly between Mrs. Horsey-Curtis and Byron Britton (the lawyer) and deals with financial and legal matters. Finally, there are several wills from Mrs. Haven and Mrs. Horsey-Curtis.
