Fonds consists of correspondence, including letters to Alfred Knight, his business agent in Napanee, Ont., concerning the interests of the Cartwright estate; business papers; speeches; scrapbooks; a manuscript of his book, "Reminiscences"; and invitations from Their Excellencies, The Governor General and The Countess of Minto, to Sir Richard, his wife, and family to attend various events in Ottawa.

Diary of clerk in charge of Hudson's Bay Post at Fort Resolution, Great Slave Lake. Bound hand written diary of Thomas Swanston, Hudson's Bay Company clerk in charge of Fort Resolution N.W.T.-Letter (November 12th, 1935) from Hudson's Bay Company London office secretary confirming to I.MC. Thompson of Toronto that Mr. Swanston was in charge of Fort Resolution from 1868-1871-Typed letter (July 24th, 1936) to Dr. Lorne Pierce from a former editor of the Topographical Survey of Canada, from whom the diary was acquired, outlining the author's recollection of Mr. Swanston and his home life. Author's name is not clearly legible but presumed to be I.M.C. Thompson from previous letter.-Typed summary of information regarding Thomas Swanston from the Hudson's Bay Company Archives London-Letter (March 9th, 1964) from John S. Nicks, archival assistant at the Saskatchewan Archives Office at the University of Saskachewan, to Mr. E.C. This sous-fonds consists of accounts, bills, receipts, correspondence, notices of assessments, statements, cheque stubs, a bank book and broadsides. There is also a list of shareholders form 1910, the year the company was sold.

Craine estate sous-fonds

This sous-fonds consists of the business papers of three members of the Craine family who lived in the town of Smiths Falls. The papers cover the period from 1852-1938 when they end with the death of Dr. Agnes Craine. The bulk of the papers consists of consist of mortgages, insurance policies, stock holdings, day books and wills of three family members - John Joseph Craine, John Craine and Dr. Agnes D. Craine. There is also some correspondence from family relations, travel diaries of Agnes Douglas Craine, news clippings, wills and estate holdings of Craine relations from the Isle of Man, and a brush drawing of Douglas Craine.

Edward H. Horsey estate sous-fonds

The sous-fonds is comprised of the dealings involved with the estates of both Edward Horsey and Theresa Haven. The papers cover the period from 1870-1900 with the majority dated in the 1880's and early 1890's. There are a few documents, such as the original deed to the Craig property, that date much earlier. For the most part the papers are financial records, such as mortgages and leases, investment statements and inventories of current and fixed assets. Also included are several instances of litigation concerning the Haven-Horsey estate. The correspondence is mainly between Mrs. Horsey-Curtis and Byron Britton (the lawyer) and deals with financial and legal matters. Finally, there are several wills from Mrs. Haven and Mrs. Horsey-Curtis.

Herbert Charles Voigt estate sous-fonds

The sous fonds consists of two series covering bankruptcy cases from 1864 to 1874 in the Kingston area. The first series consists of procedural material and contains a few files of Voight's accounts, sample forms, bills for advertising creditor's meetings and samples of his office filing systems. The second series conatins files for 27 major cases of bankruptcy and one file for a minor case. The cases cover various types of businesses such as: furniture dealer, tinsmith, plumber, merchants, a brewery owner and farmers. In each case the name and date of the cases are listed and the occupation, when know. Included in each case file is the official claim, notice from creditors and occasionally inventories or insurance policies that give descriptions of the business and premises involved.

John Watkins estate sous-fonds

The sous-fonds is comprised of documents neccesary to the distribution of an estate in numerous legacies, liquidation and distribution of stock assets, and memorials to John Watkins in St. George's Cathedral and Cataraqui Cemetery. The material consists of correspondence, deeds, financial records and documents relating to wills and partnerships.
