Collection consists of 73 photographs of Queen's buildings. The photographs were taken ca 1964 and are individually numbered beside each image. These numbers correspond to written description about each building (written description is enclosed in folder with the photographs). The written descriptions contain information regarding date of building, architect and cost.

Collection consists of two souvenir albums containing photographs of the Royal Visit to Kingston, Ontario, in 1951, by H.R.H. Princess Elizabeth, and H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh.

The fonds consists of photographs taken between 1900 and 1950. Almost all of the buildings have either gone or have been so altered as to be almost unrecognisable now; the same might be said of the people. The mills and the rafting and dredging company were principal sources of employment at one time. In the early part of the century these went out of business. After that there seems to have been some tourist trade but not nearly enough to make much local employment. By the time the photograph of the section hands was taken they were very nearly the only regularly employed working men in the village. There was, of course, some farm work available on the surrounding farms, but most men had to depend on commuting to Kingston for work, if there was work to be found. For many years the railway provided the best access to Kingston and the station was an important part of the community. High school students, for example, travelled daily to Kingston by train to attend school. The opening of the highway made motor traffic a much more viable option for commuters and brought the little self contained village closer to the bed room suburb that it has now become. The collection consists of cartes de visite of seven individuals (presumably affiliated with Knox Collecge in Toronto). Includes images of Rev. William Cavan, Dr. John Taylor, Michael Willis, Robert Baldwin, Dr. Burns, Rev. Ph. Brooks and Alfred H. Dymond.

The collection consists of a number of tintypes and other photographs collected by Herman Balesic over the years. The hand-tinted tintype portraits were mainly taken by J.D. Wallis, melainotype artist, who had an office on Market Square in Kingston, Ontario. The other portraits are examples of the work of other local photographers such as Spohn, Bell, Abbott and Sheldon and Davis.

The collection consists of postcards depicting scenes in Kingston, Napanee, Belleville, Brockville, Prescott and the Thousand Islands, as well as digital images of photographs of the Tannery staff, 1938, and the Kingston Penitentiary staff, ca. 1955.

There are also a number of personal photographs which are listed by date (1937-1953) and topic and include such subject matter as the royal visit of King George to Kingston in 1939, some World War II activities, social events of the Canadian Locomotive company as well as collected photographs of air races, 1928-1930. There are also a number of commercial business photographs.
