Moving Image

Series consists of a film, shot by William Nicholl, consisting mainly of Queen's buildings, and including Kingston City Park, Sir John A. Macdonald's statue, and his grave in Cataraqui Cemetery (1936), and a VHS tape, produced as part of a presentation to the University's Board of Trustees entitled, "The Governance of the University" (1994).

Lab Notebooks

Series contains notebooks related to research conducted in Simpson's lab. Shirley Myers was Simpson's research assistant.

Correspondence

Series contains correspondence mainly between Simpson or on behalf of Simpson by members of her lab or colleagues with other scientists and medical professionals regarding testing Inuit and Indigenous communities for the silent serum cholinesterase gene, requests for probes, Machado-Joseph disease, chromosome mapping, and Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2. A couple of files do not contain correspondence but have been included because the records may contain information related to other research notes in the correspondence files.

Blood Sample Receipts

Series contains blood sample receipts from specimens sent to Simpson's lab from Inuvik General Hospital. This folder is related to the Inuvik correspondence file.

Workshops

Series contains abstract booklets related to international workshops on Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2 and gene mapping. Many of the booklets contain abstracts from Simpson and her notes. Some workshop programs are also included. Workshops is used as another word for conferences.

Course Materials

File contains a list of slide names and slides showing genetic disorders that Simpson used as teaching examples. Some of the listed slides are missing and some slides do not correspond to the list.

Publications

Series contains of the publication The Canadian College of Medical Geneticists 1975-2000: An Historical Perspective on the First 25 Years by Hubert C. Soltan. Simpson was Treasurer and President of the College in 1976 and 1985, respectively. The publication includes 4 colour photographs of Simpson.
