Personal letter from Batterson

Handwritten. Reads "Mr. WH Hutchison I got your letter… found 3 men wanting to claim it… Williams and Hunt back but Hunt back gave in and if it belong to him he didn't want it so I got it and sent it to you. There is no… to you hope everything is satisfactory. We are all well hope to find you the same. Yours, WH Jamason". At the bottom, handwriting reads: "I don't think any of the claims is any good but yours".

Personal letter

Handwritten letter, bottom half ripped off. Addressed to a WH Hutchison in South Oshawa ON. Reads: "Dear Sir, You will find enclosed the reference you asked for. I could have got a great many more just as good but I think these should satisfy anyone. Also you will find enclosed papers of the pups advertised. "Bristles" should be in season in 1 or 2 months. All I know about her breeding is what Mr Hardesly told me as I have not had her long. He recommended her to be an excellent producer. When I brought her I intended to keep her but I have picked up some that I ran across near home and as she was the best chance at a quick sale I am selling her for the reason stated before and as I may be called for the military service. I you want this bitch you will have to buy her at once... someone will do so soon... I don't know any dog just now of strong Clan. Monarch breeding. As to judge Dexter I wouldn't breed to him if I was wanting extra good coats or color as he was a rather light dog in color and coat I think rather loose. This bitch pup I have is about as good coated and colored as any I even saw had slightly crinkly coat and deep rich tan and back almost solid black a real black has a new grizzly hairs but not noticeable except when very close at a short distance she looks as black as black as coal. If you want color and generally good coats I don't know of any better than that of the German Champions Ch. Nickery Simpson (grand sire of my pups) and Emperor is grand sire Ch. His Highness. I guess His Highness is just about the best out in this response. Rex Persattum is also pretty good. If you want this bitch pup and Bristles I will let you have the two for $60.00 and they're more than reasonable as that. Dogs are real Airedales and real terriers..." Rest is cut off.
