Afterwards Grier begins the discussion with a speech on how she would improve solid waste management with a focus on the three R's. Next Cooper talks on how municipalities can work to reduce solid waste. Dr Barton next proposes incinerating waste which cannot by directly reused. Next Jardine speaks on behalf of Greenpeace. Lastly Meyboom speaks on the benefits of composting.

Part 2. Begins with the continuation and conclusion of Meyboom's speech. Afterwards the panelists discuss each other's speeches amongst themselves. They later take questions from audience members.

Rosovsky speaks about universities from an international perspective, comparing and contrasting Western universities to others in other countries around the world, and how Harvard is trying to globalize its students. Johnson then speaks on Rosovsky's presentation.

Part of a symposium held in conjunction with the installation of Principal David Smith. Instead of the structured format of the other symposium sessions, this one is an unstructured dialogue between all the panelists. The panelists discuss the university's responsibility to help better humanity's future, with a focus on war. The conversation drifts to whether universities should be known for different roles in society, and the consequences that has on the universities.

Part 2. Continuation and conclusion of the open discussion by the symposium panelists. Begins with discussion about future structural unemployment, before the conversation drifts to the future of Queen's.
