Engineering Society Open House (2 tapes)

Part 1. Video contains clips from the 1993 Engineering Society Open House. Includes footage of a guided tour, several of the exhibits put on during the open house, and experiments being done by students. Appears to be raw footage that would later be edited together to create a finished product.

Walter Light Hall Naming

Part 1. Main Speakers: George Aitken, David Smith, Agnes Benedickson, Dr Walter Light. Location: Walter Light auditorium. Begins with narrator talking about the purpose of Walter Light Hall and the electrical engineering program. Cuts to George Aitken talking about the naming in front of an audience in the auditorium. He presents Dr Light with a scroll signed by the graduating electrical engineering class. Smith takes the podium and talks about Dr Light. Benedickson and also talks about Dr Light as well as the naming process for the building, before unveiling a picture of him that will hang in the building. Dr Light then talks about how honoured he is. Ends with shots of the gathering after the naming.

Location: Walter Light Auditorium
Takes place after the Walter Light Hall Naming. The CFRC interviewer asks Dr Light about his opinions on topics related to business, technology, and universities.

Part 1. Main Speaker(s): Clancy Wolf. Video contains a lecture by Wolf on the use of character playing simulations in public schools to teach students about different policies, conflicts, and sections of history such as the US Constitution and the growth of Detroit in the 1800's. The simulations used microcomputers to incorporate players around the world. Throughout the lecture he answers questions from the audience.

Part 1. Main Speaker(s): Fred Goodman. Video contains a demonstration of an educational game by Goodman. This game is a demonstration of rule-governed behaviour, where participants must follow certain sets of rules to survive. The main rule established by Goodman is that each player must have at least one marble to survive along with a few others, more rules are created by players acting as the government as the game goes on. After explaining the game the audience plays it for the remainder of the video.
