The fonds consists of correspondence for the period from 1876 to 1922. In addition there is an extensive collection of financial records including invoices and accounts, ledgers, time books and farm journals. These documents cover the period from the 1870's to 1922. There are also three diaries for 1880, 1884 and 1887. This collection documents the very important aspect of the history of lumbering in the Ottawa Valley.

Phipps-Walker family fonds

Fonds consists of two sous-fonds, that of Margaret Elizabeth Phipps-Walker and that of Edward Phipps-Walker. The Edward Phipps-Walker sous-fonds consists of textual material, including a "Guest Register" for a motel in Gananoque, Ontario; photographs; audio tapes. They detail the man's life from his school days in England to his death at the age of 71 in Kingston. A very important part of these records document his business activities. Most of these activities were closely related to his role as Habour Master for the Port of Kingston. The Margaret Elizabeth sous-fonds consists of textual material and photographs detailing a good deal of her public career in Kingston, with a strong focus on her work with the Association of Women Electors. There is also a good deal of personal material such as letters and diaries.

The fonds consists of correspondence, press clippings, speeches, articles, diaries, scrapbooks, reports photographs, sound recordings and a large collection of political cartoons. The material covers the period from his earliest American accountancy training in 1923 through his professional career and public career as Auditor General of Canada 1960 to 1973 to his present interests. It is in his role as watch dog and critic of government spending that Mr. Henderson is best known and the major part of the fonds is concerned with this role. Mr. Henderson's frank and articulate comments and criticisms of government expenditures and procedures aroused public interest and conflict with the government, especially that of Prime Minister Trudeau. These aspects are well represented in the fonds, along with Mr. Henderson's significant, but less visible, international accounting work.
