The fonds consists of microfilmed manuscripts that deal principally with the Army, Parliament and military affairs in Scotland from 1640-1665. The fonds has been arranged into four series; letters and papers relating to the Army and Army matters in Scotland; letters and papers dealing with the Army, its relationship with Parliament and military proceedings, including the Putney, Reading and Whitehall debates; letter-books, abstracts of orders, warrants and passes and other material dealing with the Army in Scotland and General Monck as Commander-in-Chief; and miscellaneous items, including unbound documents and volumes containing papers relating closely to, though not of, William Clarke.
The fonds consists of records of both Land Commissions including reports, indexes, minute books of Heir and Devisee Commission sittings, claims documentation (notices, affidavits, certificates) and Commission rulings. The records of the two commissions are arranged differently. The first Heir and Devisee Commission is arranged by geographical location, organized by the names of the old districts. Within the districts, the files are arranged alphabetically by surname. The files of the second Heir and Devisee Commission have been indexed and arranged alphabetically by surname, with date of claim. There are five reels of name indexes.

Fonds consist of correspondence, including letterbooks; financial ledgers; manuscripts and galleys; submissions and rejected manuscripts; minutes of Editorial Board; various drafts of the poem "End of the White Mouse" by Irving Layton, accompanied with two letters between Layton and H. Pearson Gundy, former editor of the Quarterly. Issues of the Queen's Quarterly can be found in the Queen's Printed Collection, and it has been microfilmed from 1893-1955.
The fonds consists of the records of the Land Board for the old districts of Hesse, Nassau, Leneburg and Mecklenburg. The minutes and correspondence of, instructions to and reports by the Land Boards form a single series. The records include documents antedating the establishment of the Land Boards which were brought forward in support of applications for grants, and a few records of later date.
