Item is an electro-stell engraved image of Rene-Edouard Caron, born 1800 - died 1876, Canadian politician, judge, and second Lieutenant Governor of Quebec.
Letter dated 3rd of February 1876, from the Earl of Carnarvon to the Earl of Dufferin regarding a monetary donation from the Queen to a woman, Mrs. Lynn, in honour of her giving birth to triplets. On the other side of the sheet is a disparaging Report of Frog Hollow School by the teacher, Carman Lynn, addressing the issues of expenses, attendance, behaviour and the caretaker's work.
Regarding forwarding reports. Document regarding the matter of Appeal of George O'Kill Stuart (Sr.), Archdeacon of Kingston, against the Judge fo the Boundary Line Commissioners for the Midland District.
The fonds consists of a letterbook that contains nearly 200 letters and drafts of correspondence concerning politics or Caron's legal and business dealings. They cast some light on the political machinations of the day and in particular on Caron's unsuccessful campaign in Bellechasse in 1872, and the contest which preceded his election for Quebec County in the following year.
