Forms part of : Kirkpatrick-Nickle legal collection. Rafting, ship-building and forwarding, Garden Island, Ont. Correspondence, financial records and legal documents of the Calvin family deposited in their lawyers' vault. A considerable amount of the material relates to the settling of the estate of D.D. Calvin, the founder of the company.

Isaac Simpson estate sous-fonds

This sous-fonds is comprised of correspondence and legal documents pertaining to insurance, loans, mining leases, promisory notes, the Cataraqui Bridge Company and the Kingston Hoisery Company. There are also a large number of documents reflecting the many land transactions in which Simpson was involved. Of particular interest are the records pertaining to Farm Lot 24, Lot 23 and Lot 16 (Military Reserve) in the City of Kingston.

John Maule Machar estate sous-fonds

The sous-fonds mainly consists of records regarding land lots, sales and transfers in the Provinces of Ontario and Manitoba. It includes bonds, deeds and indentures, accounts connected with the estate, and powers of attorney. Also included are some documents reflecting Machar's involvement with the Canadian Mica Company, the Midland District Schoolboard and the Rideau Canal.

Sir Richard John Cartwright sous-fonds

Fonds consists of correspondence, including letters to Alfred Knight, his business agent in Napanee, Ont., concerning the interests of the Cartwright estate; business papers; speeches; scrapbooks; a manuscript of his book, "Reminiscences"; and invitations from Their Excellencies, The Governor General and The Countess of Minto, to Sir Richard, his wife, and family to attend various events in Ottawa.

Kingston Rectory Fund sous-fonds

The sous-fonds is comprised of the records of R. Vachon Rogers, partner in Kirkpatrick and Nickle, who became the solicitor and Rector's Agent to the Fund on the death of Dr. James A. Henderson in 1890. These papers were created druing the time of his practical administration and include leases, insurance payments, the Glebe farm, vouchers, tax bills, etc. There are no minutes and little correspondence, of particular interest are a few architectural elevations for shop fronts by Newlands and Thomas Power. Of particular note are the numerous drafts of a private bill, an Act respecting St. George's Church, Kingston (57 Vict C.23), 1894 that formalized the operation of the Rectory Fund under the Rector of St. George's and Kingston Rectory Committee appointed by Synod of Diocese of Ontario.

Breden estate sous-fonds

This sous-fonds is a modest record of a the typical pioneer success story, following the fortunes of a son of an illiterate Irish immigrant to some financial success and civic respect in Kingston's early years. Although not documenting William's many careers as butcher, alderman, contractor or family man, the financial papers reflect his affairs in connection with his properties, his debtors, his stocks, his estate and the estate of his second wife, Amelia.
