John Maitland estate sous-fonds

The sous-fonds consists of personal papers, correspondence, business papers, legal documents and documents relating to the settlement of the estate, and land records relating to land lots owned by Maitland. Of particular note are the personal papers which contain military commissions for Maitland.The material has been arranged chronologically within the series and the correspondence has been indexed according to date and author/recipient.

Breden estate sous-fonds

This sous-fonds is a modest record of a the typical pioneer success story, following the fortunes of a son of an illiterate Irish immigrant to some financial success and civic respect in Kingston's early years. Although not documenting William's many careers as butcher, alderman, contractor or family man, the financial papers reflect his affairs in connection with his properties, his debtors, his stocks, his estate and the estate of his second wife, Amelia.

Craine estate sous-fonds

This sous-fonds consists of the business papers of three members of the Craine family who lived in the town of Smiths Falls. The papers cover the period from 1852-1938 when they end with the death of Dr. Agnes Craine. The bulk of the papers consists of consist of mortgages, insurance policies, stock holdings, day books and wills of three family members - John Joseph Craine, John Craine and Dr. Agnes D. Craine. There is also some correspondence from family relations, travel diaries of Agnes Douglas Craine, news clippings, wills and estate holdings of Craine relations from the Isle of Man, and a brush drawing of Douglas Craine.

Thomas Robinson Dupuis estate sous-fonds

The sous-fonds is comprised of estate papers for both Thomas and Elizabeth Dupuis of Kingston and cover the period of 1886 to 1906. There is a small amount of material pertaining to Charles Bunker Dupuis, the son of Elizabeth and Thomas, who was killed in a train accident while attending the University of Toronto as a law student. The sous-fonds predominantly consists of correspondence, legal documents, financial records and documents relating to various pieces of property. Of particular interest is the file of material pertaining to Anne Jane Crawford, her estate and her condition, defined as "acute melancholia".

The sous-fonds predominantly consists of legal document pertaining to the establishment and administration of the marriage settlement and resulting trust. Records include land documents, leases and mortgages for a number of properties in Kingston centering around Nelson Street, Collingwood Street, King Street and Beverley Street. Also included are a number of documents pertaining to Water Lot 5 in the City of Toronto.

Sir Charles James Stuart estate sous-fonds

The sous-fonds consists of correspondence, Power of Attorneys, deeds, maps, plans and notices which document Stuart's inheritance of the north west part of the Magdalen Ferguson tract (roughly bound by Division, James, Plum, Barrie and Pine streets) in Kingston which he prepared to sell off by auction. The records reflect Sir Charles' decision to settle partition of his lands from his uncle's (the Archdeacon George O'Kill Stuart) and the management of unsold land, some of which was located in Loughborough township.

Major Henry Sadleir estate sous-fonds

This sous-fonds includes correspondence with Sadleir's brothers Nicholas and William concerning the family property in Scalaheen, Tipperary, financial and legal documents pertaining to the estate, a floor plan for Heathfield, militia papers, and reports from the Trust and Loan Company of Upper Canada.

John Shiels estate sous-fonds

The sous-fonds consists of business correspondence received, printed ads, and price lists. There are also suppliers and customer's accounts, receipts, shipping advices, bills of lading, and remittance records. Of particular note is a patent for 'Shiels' improved lamp chimney and burner', no.312, registered March 22, 1870. There is also a small amount of material that pertains to Shiels' personal life, i.e. correspondence and receipts for household items, and the schooling of his children.

James Morton estate sous-fonds

The sous-fonds is predominantly comprised of land documents, insurance and correspondence relating to Lot 107 in the town of Kingston; the property was infromally known as the Rocheleau property. There is also a large amount of material pertaining to the Kingston Brewery and Distillery, particulary financial statements,accounts, credit documents and bills payable and receivable. There is also a small amount of miscellaneous business correspondence pertaining to Morton's other business ventures.
