Ledger of Thomas Burrowes, Justice of the Peace

Item is a handwritten ledger reflecting the work of Thomas Burrowes Justice of the Peace at Kingston Mills, Township of Kingston, Frontenac County. The ledger contains Memoranda of Fees and Charges, Return of Convictions and printed Schedules of Summary Convictions. The ledger documents the nature of the case, offense committed, dates, names of all parties such as prosecutor, witness(es), defendants, and Constables involved. It also notes fees levied and paid. There are a few loose receipts pinned onto one of the blank pages towards the back of the ledger. Of particular note is a hand drawn map of Pittsburgh Township, from Opinicon to Kingston along the Rideau Canal, dated May 4, 1841.

Of particular note is a large poster collection pertaining to safe sex, HIV/AIDS awareness, homophobia and transphobia, and discrimination accumulated from a variety of groups, organizations and companies both domestic and international.

Fonds consists of correspondence relating mainly to Alfred Bader's work in chemistry and his life as a gallery owner, art dealer, and art critic; subject files; papers documenting his early life in England, Canada, and the United States; records pertaining to his numerous travels around the world; writings and various publications; drafts and mss. in connection one of his memoirs entitled "Chemistry and Art: More Adventures of a Chemist Collector"; photographs. It also includes his POW shirt from WWII.
