Topics include the Orange Order, Catholicism, employment of locals, prices for timber in the hinterlands and the building of ships in Kingston.

The fonds consist predominantly of correspondence, photographs, and educational records from Isabel McLaughlin's late adolescence and adulthood; however, a few letters and educational records are from Isabel's childhood in Oshawa. The collection reflects Isabel's relationship with her family and friends and her involvement in the arts community, both as a patron and as an artist. Isabel's friendship and patronage extended to many well-known Canadian artists, including A.Y. Jackson, Lawren Harris, Anne Savage, Arthur Lismer, Prudence Heward, Yvonne McKague Housser, and Timothy Findley. Her involvement in arts organizations, such as the Art Students' League, the Canadian Group of Painters, the Haliconian Club, and the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, are also reflected in this collection. The fonds consist of the following series: Artistic activities, Cards, Correspondence, Education, Exhibition, Oshawa, Paris, Personal, and Photographs. Also included in this fonds is the sous-fonds of Robert Samuel McLaughlin. This sous-fonds contains material that Isabel had gathered together and seperated from her own records that pertained, or had belonged, to her father, R.S.McLaughlin.

Daniel Fowler fonds

The fonds consists of fifty-five manuscripts with transcriptions, three letters, and an original (plus photocopy) of the manuscript of Fowler's autobiography. Also included are various family legal papers, two unidentified group photographs, and sixteen prints by J. D. Harding, who was Fowler's teacher and two certificates of award issued to Fowler from the Philadelphia Exhibition in 1876.

Mackintosh during his time as the 12th Principal of Queen's University. There are important files on the Anti-Combines Investigation Act, the 1945 Dominion-Provincial Conference, the Royal Commission on Dominion-Provincial Relations, the National Employment Commission, the Economic Advisory Committee, 1939-1944, and Queen's University.

The fonds consists of both incoming and outgoing family correspondence predominantly between the Hurst sisters, Deirdre, Phyllis and Muriel (Murra), and their mother, Edith a Beckett Hurst. The letters detail both the personal and professional lives of these women early in their lives, focussing on the period before the sisters were married. The material provides rare insight into an artistic and cultural milieu as seen and experienced by independent women in the 1930's. The fonds also contains a number of photographs of Phyllis and Deirdre in particular, as well as a number of subject files pertaining to the Chekov Studio and Dartington School.

This collection consists of two deposits of correspondence between Shane MacKay, Executive Editor of the Winnipeg Free Press and Grant Dexter, Editor Emeritus of the Free Press. During these years, Dexter was in the Parliamentary Press Gallery, analyzing the political situation for the Free Press. The correspondence contains comment on the policy of the Free Press, notes of confidential conversations with politicians and some background information on the reports that Dexter filed. Includes several obituaries and appreciations of Dexter from the Free Press.
