The fonds consists of letterbooks, journals, ledgers, blotters, court dockets and registry office books that reflect the business of the law firm in handling estates and cases for their impressive list of clients. The papers reflect the input of all the major partners in the business since it's inception and include Thomas Kirkpatrick, George A. Kirkpatrick, R. Vachon Rogers, W.F. Nickle and John Macaulay. Of particular interest is an account book recording lots in Wolfe Island sold by C.W. Grant, fifth Baron de Longueuil. Individual records of various estates handled by the firm have been arranged and described as sous-fonds.

Fonds reflects the architectural practice of William Coverdale and his son William Miles Coverdale and is comprised of correspondence, financial records, design submissions and specifications, estimates, and reports relating various projects including the Criminal Lunatic Asylum, better known as Rockwood Asylum at Kingston, Ontario. Also includes photographs of the summer home of William Hugh Coverdale at Lemoine's Point Farm.

There is also a very interesting series of letters relating to Captain John Hamilton Brown, as well as an armband of the Dutch Forces of the Interior.

The fonds consists of the records of the Land Board for the old districts of Hesse, Nassau, Leneburg and Mecklenburg. The minutes and correspondence of, instructions to and reports by the Land Boards form a single series. The records include documents antedating the establishment of the Land Boards which were brought forward in support of applications for grants, and a few records of later date.
