Item is a portrait of John Adams (b. October 30, 1735; d. July 4, 1826), the second President of the United States (1797-1801), after being the first Vice President (1789-1797) for two terms. Regarded as one of the most influential Founding Fathers of the United States. Below the illustrated portrait is a pedestal with the inscription: "John Adams. I have not come to this decision without mature consideration nor without feeling a strong assurance that with the blessing of Almighty God it will at once secure my domestic felicity and serve the Interests of my Country."
