Scope and content
Item is an 8x10 glossy print. Note: Located in Manitoba, near the Saskatchewan border, the town of Flin Flon sprawls over one of the richest ore deposits in the world. Copper, zinc, gold, silver, cadmiun and selenium are dynamited, hacked and smelted from its great mine which delves 3,5000 (sic) feet through solid rock formations. Working on a narrow ledge less than eight feet wide over which yawns a 300-foot cone-shaped cavern, these miners are blast-hole drilling with a diamond drill at the rate of 130 feet per eight hour shift. Note the thick rope fastened to their safety belts and securely attached to wall behind to prevent falling over the edge. Operating the drill is Fred Hammond; bending over with wrench is Dave Miller, adding extension rods.
