Item is an window-matted, top-half, electro-steel engraved portrait of Robert Walpole, earl of Orford; first Prime minister of Great Britian, 1721-42 (b.1676-d.1745). Engraved by H. B. Hall from a painting by Houbraken after a painting byPond ande published by Charles Knight & co.Ludgate Street. back matted to both the matte and the image ispart of an parchment letter with the subject's signature on it. The bottom two corners of the image are unattached.

Physical condition
The image and matte show signs of water damage as well as the parchment letter is flaking and as a result of being attached to both the matte and the image torn so when the image moves away from the matte the pieces are separate.
