Notice biographique

Bruce Douglas Redfern (b. October 12, 1960 in Ottawa) comes from a family with strong ties to Queen's on the Redfern side. His grandfather, an uncle, his father, his two brothers and one sister all attended the university (his father and uncle also played football for Queen's).
Redfern first became interested in photography after taking a class at high school. He continued to work on his skills while at CEGEP and was a photographer for the student newspaper there. As a result, when he came to Queen's to study history, he also became a photographer for the Queen's Journal.
After Queen's, Redfern enrolled at Dawson College in Montreal and completed the Professional Photography program. He spent the following years working as a professional photographer in Ottawa and Montreal. His interest in history later led him to return to university to complete a B.A. and a M.A. in History at Concordia University in Montreal.
Over the years, Redfern's work has led him into in a variety of related areas including publishing, the McCord Museum in Montreal, university fund-raising, and since the 1990s, involvement with a national historic site, the Macdonell-Williamson House. He was most recently employed at Carleton University's Archives & Research Collections where he focused on the photo collection.
