He recalls the excitement generated by the arrival of the first steam-driven thresher in 1912 and the influenza epidemic of 1918 when Horner helped to evacuate the stricken lumbermen from the isolated lumber camps in the Valley. Side One: Pape discusses how he became a C.A., as a Jewish man. 1921 started as Junior in accounting, up to being in charge of audits. Went to another firm where his religion was not a hinderance.
