Includes correspondence with Canadian authors, including correspondence relating to the compilation of "Penguin Book of Canadian Short Stories," translation notes and manuscripts for books by Antonine Maillet, Daniel Poliquin and Francine D'Amour, and research notes and manuscripts for his own works, "Quiet Limit of the World," "Vulture," "Bone Museum," "The Dinosaur Project," Chasing the Chinook," "Toronto the Wild," "Tree" and "Bringing Back the Dodo." The collection includes all printed records of the university, including statutes, statistics, academic calendars, reports, publicity material, football programmes, history, convocation and honorary degrees, and examinations; as well as publications by affiliated organizations, including student groups, clubs and associations. Includes the Queen's Journal, Queen's Gazette, Queen's Alumni Review, Tricolour (yearbook) and many other periodicals, newspapers and publications.
The records start with the proceedings of the first town council in 1838 and are continually being acquired. Many of the early minute books are indexed. In addition there are separate volumes for committee reports between 1842 and 1898, and for bylaws between 1838 and 1907. The minute books and correspondence of the Finance and Accounts Committee are of interest. The story of the Fire Department between 1888 and 1936 is to be found in the records of the Committee on Fire and Light. There are scattered records for the Parks and Property Committees, fairly detailed records for the Board of Works between 1891 and 1936 and for the Board of Health around the same time. The correspondence of the City Clerk is complete from 1898 to 1938 and there are letter books from 1952 on as well as scattered letter books from 1852 to 1896. The records of the City Treasurer comprise an extensive collection of account books as do the records of the City Engineer.

In addition there are the reports of the Finance Constitution, Resolution, Credentials and Organization Committees as well as various provincial and political associations.The textual consists of press releases, pamphlets, speeches and memoranda issued by the leadership candidates at the Liberal leadership convention. Includes material relating to the organization of the campaign of Paul Martin.

The fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, research memos, media releases, conference papers, constituency files, scrapbooks and publications of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (C.C.F.) and New Democratic Party of Ontario. Included are study papers and discussion papers relating to the Founding Convention of the New Democratic Party of Ontario, the National New Democratic Party Convention of 1969, as well as publicity for the party and for party candidates. Graphic material includes photographs of Party candidates, as well as training and promotional films.
