The fonds consists of material created and kept by Harry Tanner. Much of the material that still exists was originally that of Dorothy Todd Tanner, that remained in Harry's possession when she passed away. The fonds has been divided into two series, material seemingly created and or accumulated by Harry Tanner about his life and work, and a second series of material that was maintained by Dorothy Tanner from, or about, Harry that then came to be in Harry's possession after her death.
Fonds consists of translations of German publications such as recipe books and a history of the Christmas tree, as well as records from the St. Lawrence Place Residence Council. Also includes programmes for "Harvest Thanksgiving" held at he Royal Military Chapel, Wellington Barracks, and the "Grenadier and Scots Guards ... The material relates to the various projects that this firm carried out, in Kingston and surrounding area, between its inception in 1972 and its closing in 1996. There is a small amount of material from other sources, primarily the firm of Smith and MacLennan where Mr. MacLennan was a partner before he established his own firm. There is also a small amount of material that illustrates something of the approach to design taken by Mr. MacLennan.
