Benedickson then talks about the history of Stauffer Library. Smith talks further about the function and importance of the library. The cornerstone of the library is then unveiled, and loaded with a time capsule. The plinth is then closed.

Begins with several ads, followed by Nallish discussing with Trotter and Yates their thoughts on Canadian mindpower and how Queen's can help people harness that power. They also discuss a new book they are releasing. They go on to talk about Queen's graduate program exceptance and international students. Video ends abruptly after half an hour.

University chaplain opens with a prayer, then Benedickson welcomes everyone and declares Smith principal of Queen's University. Smith then addresses the convocation with a speech. Afterwards Norton speaks on behalf of the provincial government in regards to the appointment. Smith then presents Jill Ker Conway, William McNeill, Henry Rosovsky, Erich Vogt, and Ronald Watts with an honourary doctorate of laws. Dr Rosovsky then addresses the convocation, after which the chaplain says a closing prayer.
