Item is an electro-steel engraving of William Emerson, born 1701 and died 1782, an English mathmetician who devoted his life to retired study and publishing. Engraved by H. Adlard for the Mechincs Magazine Vol. V. from the only Original Painting which is now in the possession of Dr. Cloudesty of Darlington. Published by Knight & Lacey (Paternoster Row).

Item is a sketch of William Dunlop, also known as Tiger Dunlop, army officer, surgeon, Canada Company official, author, jp, militia officer, politician, and office holder; b. 19 Nov. 1792 in Greenock, Scotland, third son of Alexander Dunlop and Janet Graham; d. unmarried 29 June 1848 in C?te-Saint-Paul (Montreal), and was buried first in Hamilton and then in Goderich, Upper Canada.
