Postcard from Ohio

Picture is a bird's eye view of Patinbay, Ohio. Painting of what looks like a small town or village. Canadian postage. On the back, handwritten with pencil that is now faded. Reads: "This is a lonely place to work… Friday afternoons…". On the actual card there is a small hole that goes through the card, and it seems to have had a dark colored liquid spilled onto it and staining it.

Letter from "Florence Inn"

Envelop with a letter from Florence Inn in Terry Town, NY. Addressed to a Mr. and Mrs Hutchison. Reads: "Your lonely gift arrived yesterday, we both thank you very much, it was most kind of you… Having heard I've speak of you… I feel I know you both well. I do hope some time in the near future we shall all meet. It would be lovely if you could pay us a visit, we should be most delighted to see you. Thank you for your lovely gift... PS... working such long hours but as soon as he can he will write you."

Letter addressed to a "Hanean Hutchison"

An envelop with a letter inside. Addressed to a Harian Hutchison at 32 Quebec St. Christmas 1925 greeting letter from a "Mr. and Mrs. John M. Jarbis" at 150 Worthington St. East, North Bay ON. Reads: "Dear Hanean, Mother was glad to hear from you and as I happen to be home for the holidays.... I saw it... Good you are keeping well and anything you happen to be on the north would be great to see you. I am with the Lochome Hardwire Ltd and like the County up there fine. Mother was good to hear from you and will drop a line soon. Best wishes..."

Cue Card: "To W.H. Hutchison"

Addressed to a Mr. W.H. Hutchison at 32 Oshawa ON. Reads "Mr. Hutchison…. Please give me… description of your finance…". Signed from a "Jos M. Hunt" from Ohio. Top corner has a Jefferson postage stamp.

Hand traced map. Bottom of the map are scribbles reading "E Plache", "Dep Com Crown", "Land Toronto", "Town Pittsburgh", "Traced from Blue Print", "Dated 1856 May 28th".

Correspondence from Department of Lands and Forests

File no. DR 5244. Addressed to "Mr. W.H. Hutchison". Reads: "Sir, Your recent letter in request of permission to erect a boat house on Rideau Canal has been received. If you will send in a description of the lot, or part lot, concession and township in front of which you desire to erect the boat house, you will be further advised." Signed, "Your obedient servant, W.C. Cain".

Correspondence from Department of Lands and Forests

From a "W.C. Cain", Deputy Minister, Department of Lands and Forests, Toronto ON, "File no. D.R. 524480". In reply of Hutchison's letter to inform him that "boat house requested is on either part lot 24 or 25 Concession VII Township of Pittsburgh ON". Continues to read: "I should judge, and if you would arrange to furnish me with a tracing no doubt the exact location could be marked there..."

Ripped letter paper.

Two pieces of paper ripped in half, missing bottom halves. Reads: "…2nd inst, and am very much pleased to know that you have been successful in getting a position. I do not anticipate any worry on your part over finding employment in this country and it would be cause of satisfaction to every Canadian if everyone coming to us from the British Isles landed a position with as little difficulty as you have done. I shall be glad to see you if you should visit our city at anytime and I assume you my best wishes go with you for a successful career in Canada..." Rest is cut off. Unsigned.

"Sid Parkins Wholesale and Retail Fish Merchant" notepad scrap

Note pad paper ripped on top edges, frayed corners, black smudges. Letter head reads: "If it swims I sell it… Sid Perkins Wholesale and Retail Fish Merchant. No extra charge for cleaning". Written in handwriting: "Dear Sir, The bitch had two food servings... I will ship her back to... I see she has a little canker... That's why she drops it... a few Drops (warmed olive oil in a spoon) gently and a little Barasic powder. Find bitter." Bottom has scribbled names, "Champion", "Gladiator", "Champion Midlord".
