Fonds consists of correspondence, manuscripts, diaries, speeches, lectures, research notes, writings, published works, subject files, photographs and material related to organizations to which Lower belonged. Literary files from the Executors of the estate of A.R.M. Lower which include unpublished articles. Also included is an audio tape recorded in Kingston, Ont., April 13, 1971 which is a discussion of recent Canadian history, as well as Dr. Lower's views as expressed in the book Canadians in the Making. Dr. Lower also answers various questions concerning his philosophy of history as it relates to his philosophy of life.

The papers are divided into two series: Correspondence of Anna Walling - prominent correspondents include Charlotte Perkins Gliman, Emma Goldman, and Selig Perlman, and Correspondence of Others - including correspondence of William English Walling, other family members and Leonard Abbott. The correspondence (1897-1964) which includes family, friends and political associates documents Walling's involvement in political causes. The letters also reveal Anna Walling's feelings on personal matters, social questions and her reactions to meetings with prominent persons both in the United States and abroad.

Also included is a series of original press clippings (1935-1951) amassed and retained by Mackenzie King.

A large portion of these papers consists of material concerning western agriculture and politics. Of particular interest in this connection are those files dealing with the Canadian Council of Agriculture, which includes the minutes of the Council from December 29, 1911 to March 31, 1922.
