Mech Eng 492 Final Presentations: #5 Applied Sonic Research #6 Apex Bicycle Products

Main Speaker(s): Mathew Kaustinen, Peter Landon, Steve McIlvenna, Kevin Chen. Location: classroom. Video contains two groups' MECH 492 Final Presetations. First group is Kaustinen and Landon, who created Applied Sonic Research with a small unit that can manage several guitar midi effects simultaneously. Second group is McIlvenna and Chen who created Apex Bicycle Products with a specialized bike stand for repairs. Each group speaks about their marketting plan for their product, as well as sales predictions and insights on company management.

Mech Eng 493: Wildertyke, Queen's Entrepreneur Competition

Main Speaker(s): John Easson, Claude Germain, Alex Walker. Location: classroom. One of the presentations for the 1989 Queen's University Entrepreneur Competition. Easson, Germain, and Walker describe their company Wildertyke and their product the Wilderpen, an outdoor playpen for infants. Easson gives an overview of the product. Afterwards Germain talks about the management of the company and goes further in-depth into the Wilderpen. Then Walker discusses the future business plan of Wildertykes.

Centre for Advanced Gas Combustion Technology - Formal Opening

Main Speaker(s): Dr William McLatchie?, David Smith, Dr Henry Becker, Walter Cotie, Denis Jones, Richard Walker, Robert Martin, Stephen Bellringer, Jenny Carter. Location: Centre for Advanced Gas Combusiton. Begins with Dr McLatchie introducing Smith, who welcomes the audience and talks about the new centre. Dr Becker introduces and thanks the people responsible for the centre. Cotie speaks on the origin and purpose of the centre. Afterwards Jones talks about the importance of the new Gas and Combustion centre. Walker talks about the impact the centre will have on the Canadian economy. Martin congratulates the university on the centre. Bellringer also commends Queen's for their work in gas and combustion research. Carter speaks on behalf of the Ontario government.

Developmental Profile II: Sharon Burke, School of Nursing

Main Speaker(s): Sharon Burke, Wendy Bogues. Location: Unknown room, resembles a kitchen. Video of Burke demonstrating how to do a developmental profile on a mother's children. The developmental profile is a series of questions about a child's behaviour to be answered by their mother, who will be able to see how her child behaves in relation to most children. Bogues plays the part of the mother while Burke asks her various questions about her children. The questions asked are based on the age of the child being discussed.

Standardized Patient Program: Whether to treat cancer in an Alzheimer's patient

Location: Staged nursing home . Video is an acted skit based on a true scenario. Mrs Porter is an elderly woman with Alzheimer's in a nursing home. Brenda is her daughter who visits her, and discovers her mother has cancer. Brenda is very against any surgery being performed on her mother, but the doctor advises her to let them operate. She gets advice from a family doctor, and then the video ends.
