Item is an Window-matted, circular, top-half electro-steel engraved portrait of Napoleon I; Emperor of France (b.1769-d.1821). Engraved by W. Holl from a picture by F. Gerard in posession of the publisher, Harles Knight, Ludgate Street & Pall Mall East. The engraving shows Napoleon as Emperor. two other images of the subject are atacked to the front of the matt, one side bust covring part of the bottomleft corner of the main image and one full side view of him as a general with the incription "From the water-color drawing presented by Mr. Henry Irving to the Army Mess of the United StatesMillitary Academy West Point N.Y. The Following incription acccompnies the drawing: 'orignal sketch of Napoleon I, taken from real life, on board the "Bellerphon in 1815 by Captain Marryat." Given to me by Gilbert Farquhar 30 June, 1885- Henry Irving'" below.
