Series consists of photographs taken by City of Kingston Planning Department staff in the course of their work. The pictures are predominantly of scenes in the City of Kingston with a very occasional picture taken to show some planning issue in another jurisdiction. The photographs were used to document issues related to urban planning and urban renewal in Kingston. Included are images of Rideau Heights, photographs in preparation for the Confederation Park proposal, dilapidated housing in Kingston, and general scenes from around the city throughout the 1950s to the 1970s.
This series outlines the financial aspects of the Chown Hardware business. The Financial Records series contains monthly and yearly, financial statements, budgets, reports, summaries, and statistics. Additionally, this series contains customers’ accounts and ledgers, company tax information and documents concerning the company’s wholesale trade. This series is arranged firstly alphabetically, with secondary chronological arrangement.
This series illustrates the administrative and logistical aspects of the Chown Hardware business. It contains examples of management meetings, operations reviews, progress reports, and shareholders correspondences; as well as catalogues, advertisements, and newspaper clippings. Finally, there is a section of information about the company’s history, which includes newspaper clippings and photographs. The material is arranged alphabetically.
This series documents the activities of Chown employees. The Personnel Series contains information regarding employee commissions, wages, concerns, applications, evaluations and job descriptions. Additionally, this series contains internal correspondences, the majority originating from Donald Chown. The material is arranged alphabetically.
